Report a missed collection through the council responsible for that service. BinMate can help you keep track of dates, but it cannot send a crew back or submit a council report for you.
Before opening the report form
Confirm that the collection was due and that the council’s collection window has ended. Check service alerts and any notice on the bin. If you are still establishing the cause, use our uncollected-bin checklist.
Reach the correct service through the official collection finder. Avoid entering your address into an unrelated commercial waste quote form.
Information to keep
- The date and type of collection that was missed.
- The selected address and any communal-bin reference.
- Your report number and submission time.
- The council’s explanation, promised response and instructions.
If a whole street is affected, look for a service update before submitting repeated reports. If you use an assisted collection, explain that when the form provides an appropriate field.
After reporting
Follow the response about where to leave the bin and when to bring it back. A report does not itself guarantee a return visit. Keep the bin secure and avoid blocking access while waiting.
When a response says “working days”, use that wording carefully: 72 hours and three working days are not equivalent. If the promised response period passes, follow up with your reference rather than starting multiple disconnected reports.
What if I was late putting the bin out?
The council may not class that as a missed collection. Check its late-presentation policy and your safe options.
Can I claim compensation?
Check the service’s complaints process and any paid-service terms. Eligibility for a refund or compensation depends on the service terms and circumstances.
